We went to a Memorial Day parade in the town next to ours. It was actually a really good parade! I thought this picture was fitting given today is Memorial Day!

We had lunch at Shady Glen today (they are a local place, famous for their cheeseburgers with the fried cheese!) Of course, I had a chocolate milkshake to go with it! Yummy!

Today I went to the New Britain Museum of Art with my friend Joan. This is a small portion of a display of 20,000 plastic cups. When you get close you can see that each of the plastic cups is actually clear and painted! It took the artist 2 weeks, working round the clock, with the help of 3 others to complete it.

Even though I do periodically go to Dairy Queen when it is not summer, there is nothing like the an ice cream cone on the first summer-like day of the year-yum!

It was Family Math night tonight in our town! It was run by high school students and teachers along with some from the elementary schools, too! There were about 30 different stations where you could solve math problems, do math/science experiments (one fun one was figuring out how many teaspoons of salt it would take to make a hard-bolied egg float-it took Tucker seven!) Here Tucker solves a number puzzle-they had three: numbers 1-100, numbers 10-1000 (by 10s), and this one starting with .01. He whipped through the first two, this one took him a little longer but he got it!

I spotted these pretty pink flowers climbing up our back fence. I think they're called clematis(?).

After a six day hiatus because I was sick, I am back!

These clouds over the church caught my eye and though they look ominous, nothing really came of them!

With all the recent rain, the flowers in our yard are really starting to bloom! As usual, I have no idea what the names of things are; these are in a flower bed on the side of our house.

Yesterday we went for a walk on a beautiful trail. Tucker is fascinated with water and always has to stop and poke a stick into any body of water he finds!

May 10

I did actually take this picture yesterday, on Sunday, but didn't get a chance to post it. I stopped at the cemetery to put flowers on one of my grandmother's graves and when I headed back to the car, I saw those wonderful-looking, old stones in the corner of the cemetery.

Today we took advantage of a free child identification program sponsored by our town. Tucker was fingerprinted, they did his height (49 in.) and his weight (56 lbs), a dental impression, a DNA swab, and a short video clip of him answering questions. It was quite thorough and I hope we never have to use it. But it's good to know we have it if we do need it.

Another sun peeking through the trees picture...after all the rain we had this week, it was refreshing to see the sun this morning!

I met a friend from high school for dinner tonight (we have reconnected via Facebook). This building is a former post office that has been converted into a restaurant. After a dreary day, I liked seeing the sun peek through the trees next to it.

We're having a bake sale at work tomorrow and these cupcakes are my contribution!

It was another cloudy day today and it didn't seem to know what it was going to do! We came out of Walmart at 6:00 and I noticed the lights were on in the parking lot; I liked how they looked against the sky.

In between the raindrops today, we went for a hike in a park in the next town over. It used to be a dairy farm back in the 1900s and the town acquired it and has recently made hiking trails, a dog park, and they're raising money for a play scape. We went on one of the trails and found this old farm machinery in the woods!

It was a dreary morning but the rain held off and we had t-ball! Here Tucker takes a swing at the ball!

Yesterday was a dreary day here in CT (and I couldn't get it together to get on the computer and post this so it's late!)
